men’s pelvic health

can Men get pelvic floor therapy? Yes, absolutely.

For many men, the topic of pelvic floor health remains a mystery. Often associated with women’s health, the pelvic floor plays a crucial role in men’s well-being, too. Pelvic floor therapy for men is a revolutionary approach addressing various conditions impacting urinary, sexual, and bowel health.
Anyone that has a pelvic floor may need pelvic floor therapy at some point in their life, so men, that includes you. You might be a candidate for pelvic floor therapy if you find yourself experiencing any issues including but not limited to: difficulty with urination or bowel movements, pain in your pelvic area or sexual dysfunction. Aging, surgery (especially prostate surgery), obesity, chronic coughing, and heavy lifting can effect the function of your pelvic health.

WHAT IS YOUR PELVIC FLOOR?

The pelvic floor is a group of muscles and connective tissues that stretch from the pubic bone to the tailbone and hold the pelvic organs in place and stabilize the spine. A healthy pelvic floor can contract, squeeze, lift, relax, and fully contract to fully relax.

These muscles support your bladder, rectum, and reproductive organs, and they help control the functions of those organs: peeing, pooping, menstruation, intercourse, and childbirth.

A weakness or tightness in the pelvic floor muscles can cause or worsen a number of problems, including but not limited to: pelvic organ prolapse, loss of sexual sensation, erectile dysfunction and painful intercourse.
